Büren an der Aare
"In Büren an der Aare, I could tell you about the old bailiffs castle of Berne, the town hall with its Gothic façade, the “Spittel” that was converted into a local museum, the church and of course the impressive wooden bridge. However, I would like to share with you the lovely evening that I spent in this town. Last summer some friends and I decided to dine at a wonderful Italian restaurant, it has a terrace a few meters from the Aare and offers a fine view of the famous bridge. From our table, we could see the river and watch the people enjoying the last few moments of the sunshine. It was a warm and clear summer evening, in a truly exceptional setting. We left with a perfect memory of Büren an der Aare!"
The historic small town is listed in the National Inventory of Cultural Heritage. The sights to visit are the castle of the former Bernese bailiffs, the town hall with its gothic windows, the parish church and the mighty wooden bridge.
