"We had barely arrived in Biel/Bienne and off we went for a walk through the Nidaugasse towards the old town. The jewel of the old town is where the Romans worshipped the God ‘Benelus’ for many centuries. Incidentally, Biel/Bienne owes its name to this Roman deity. Around here the numerous small restaurants invite you to linger. Along the Museum Mile we walked towards the lake, the sun glistens on the water and we looked forward to a pedalo ride."
Biel/Bienne is Switzerland’s largest bilingual town. Languages, German and French have equal rights here. This town is also the cradle of Swiss watchmaking. Biel/Bienne’s old town is a jewel and the Ring is the city‘s oldest square.
